We are delighted to announce the 3rd EVA (Endo Vascular Access) Meeting which will be held in Patras, Greece on June 23-24, 2023. The 2-day Meeting will be hosted at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University of Patras placed in the University Campus. The EVA Meeting is a 2-day Meeting dedicated, but not limited to, the endovascular management of vascular access. The Meeting is created to be a multi-disciplinary one, for physicians with an interest in vascular access. Our goal is to invite people to discuss the challenges we face, as physicians, in this demanding field, with a view to improve the quality of life for dialysis patients.
After two years of absence, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2nd EVA Meeting was successfully held this summer in Patras. Fifty-six faculty members from Europe (France, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Greece), the USA, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt presented the latest data and updates in the field. More than 250 participants were registered for the Meeting. Participants were vascular surgeons, nephrologists, interventional nephrologists, radiologists, and interventional radiologists. The Meeting also managed to provide educational grants for some of the attendees. To that end, the EVA Meeting collaborated with the N-PATH, a network of Universities across Europe, supported by the European Commission and endorsed by the ERA (European Renal Association) and the VAS (Vascular Access Society), with an aim to expose young nephrologists to interventional procedures.
The program included 20 sessions and 76 lectures and was accredited with 12 European CME credits by the EACCMΕ®. The Meeting collaborated with 3 major congresses that organized and presented 3 sessions within the main program. The collaborations were with the CiDA (Controversies in Dialysis Access) meeting from the US, the PAIRS (Pan-Arabic Interventional Radiology) congress from the Middle East and the DASy (Dialysis Access Synergy) meeting from the Far East.
The 3rd EVA Meeting is on the way and a preliminary program is already available. The program will include sessions on different aspects of vascular access management, the latest trials and guidelines, the role of ultrasound, trial updates, case-based discussions, but also innovation and bench research, home and peritoneal dialysis and financial matters that affect everyday practice especially within the frame of the new Medical Device Regulation (MDR). The voice of the patient, the key element and goal of our practice, will also be heard. We designed our sessions in order to be able to explore the different issues we come across, and also have time to discuss. We support different opinions, not for the controversy itself, but with an aim to understand the different aspects of every problem. We would like physicians attending the Meeting, to come out of each session with a better understanding, if not with a solution for every issue.
We look forward to having you in Patras, Greece next summer, for another successful EVA Meeting
