CAPS-CARE international survey

The CAPS-CARE Steering Committee, regarding an international study dedicated to catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAPS), a rare but devastating condition frequently associated with AKI.

CAPS-CARE is an investigator-initiated project coordinated by Dr. Lucas Jacobs (Nephrology, Brussels University Hospital, Belgium) and supported by a multidisciplinary Steering Committee including experts in nephrology, antiphospholipid syndrome, lupus, internal medicine, and intensive care medicine. The project is further conducted in collaboration with internationally recognized CAPS experts, including Prof. Ricard Cervera, Prof. Savino Sciascia…

The study aims to better understand current practices and unmet needs in CAPS diagnosis and management worldwide. Ethical approval has been obtained from our institutional review board, and preliminary results have already been presented during an invited oral session at the EULAR 2026 Congress in London.

Given the important role of nephrologists in the management of CAPS and its complications, we believe this initiative may be of particular interest to your members. This survey crucially needs worldwide participation to reach global representation.

The survey is anonymous, takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, and is open to all clinicians regardless of prior CAPS experience. Physicians who participate and agree to be identified will be invited to join the international CAPS-CARE Study Group and contribute to publications arising from the project.
