Thus, it publishes basic science, experimental, clinical-laboratory and clinical or epidemiological articles related to renal diseases, the interaction between the kidney and other organs or systems, and to renal function replacement therapies and renal transplantation.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">Particularly, manuscripts fall into the following categories:<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><b>Brief reviews:<\/b> They address issues with recent scientific developments and active research interest. They are submitted to the journal after contact or invitation by the editorial board. Their structure is free according to the authors&rsquo; discretion but they should not be longer than 6 typewritten pages and contain no more than 15 references.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><b>Reviews:<\/b> They are submitted by one or, exceptionally, more authors, with an outstanding knowledge of the particular scientific field, in order to provide detailed, essential, and reliable information. Their structure is free according to the authors\u2019 discretion and their content should cover all the evolutional stages of the subject, emphasizing on recent<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">developments. They should be between 15 to 25 typewritten pages in length and the number of references should not exceed 80.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><b>Original articles:<\/b> Their content is experimental, clinical-laboratory, clinical or epidemiologic and they are related to renal diseases and conditions with an indirect or regulating renal involvement, and renal function replacement therapies. They should not be longer than 12 typewritten pages and contain more than 30 references. Structure should be as follows: <b>Abstract <\/b>up to 200 words, containing in 4 separate paragraphs: a) Background-Aim, b) Patients (or Materials) &#8211; &Mu;ethods, c) Results and d) Conclusions. A short <b>Introduction <\/b>that contains the latest research data on the particular scientific issue and the aim of the study. Description of the <b>Patients (or Materials)<\/b> and <b>Methods<\/b>. The presence of a written informed consent given by the patients and approval by an Institutional Review Board or adherence to guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals should be reported. Presentation and analysis of the <b>Results <\/b>followed by a <b>Discussion<\/b>, containing the study conclusions.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><b>Case reports:<\/b> Rare clinical cases with a distinctive presentation, diagnostic or therapeutic approach are presented. They are short, and should be 4 to 6 typewritten pages long and contain 10 to 12 references. Their structure is divided into an <b>Abstract<\/b>, a short <b>Introduction<\/b>, <b>Case Presentation<\/b> and a short <b>Discussion<\/b>.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">The journal also publishes announcements of forthcoming congresses, symposia, courses and other events of renal interest. The Editorial Board reserves the right to decide the publication of Proceedings of the Panhellenic Congress of Nephrology and the Scientific Meetings of the Hellenic Society of Nephrology or extended clinical-pathological discussions or round tables of a particular interest, in the form of a <b>Supplement<\/b>.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><i><b>Format of manuscripts:<\/b><\/i> Manuscripts should be typewritten in English or modern Greek language using word processor software. The editorial board reserves the right to apply linguistic modifications to the text without altering the author\u2019s writing style. The document file format should be MS Word (.doc) or rich text (.rtf), 12 pt font size, double spaced and with 2.5 cm margins on each side. All pages should be numbered.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">The following sections start on a separate page: The Title page, containing the title of the manuscript, the author(s)\u2019 names, the institutions, the scientific event, in which the whole or part of the article might already have been presented, and the contact details of the corresponding author, including mail address, electronic e-mail address and phone number. The Abstract page, required for all submitted manuscripts except for brief reviews, which contains 3 to 7 keywords and a short\/running title located on the top of the page. <b>Articles should provide (if possible) in a separate page the title of the manuscript, the author(s)\u2019 names, the institutions and the keywords also in Greek language. An Abstract in Greek is also required for all submitted manuscripts except of brief reviews.<\/b> The main text. The page containing Acknowledgements and Conflicts of interest. The Reference page. The page containing the Legends of the tables and figures. The tables and the figures, are numbered in Arabic numbers and contain a short legend with explanation of acronyms or abbreviations at the bottom of the legend.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><b>References:<\/b> References should be listed in order of appearance according to the Vancouver style, with the reference appearing in the text as an arabic number in superscript format. All and only those references cited in the text appear in the reference section. Authors\u2019 initials are not followed by a full stop. Authors\u2019 names are separated by a coma. Up to six authors per reference are listed individually. Should there be more than six, only the first three are included followed by &#8220;et al&#8221;. Abbreviations of journal titles are made according to Index Medicus.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><b>Examples of references: Journal article:<\/b> Loop FD, Gosgrove DM, Kramer JR, et al. Late clinical and arteriographic results in 500 coronary reoperations. J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg 1981; 81: 675-685. <b>Book chapter:<\/b> Maher JF. Pharmacological aspects of renal failure and dialysis. In: Drukker W, Parsons FM, Maher JF, eds. Replacement of renal function by dialysis. Boston: Martinus Nijhoff, 1983: 749-797. <b>Book or Monograph:<\/b> Prowaland M, Tozer IN. Clinical pharmacokinetics. Concepts and applications. Philadelphia: Lea and Febiger, 1980: 79-86.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as e-mail attachments sent to the journal\u2019s e-mail address <b>greek.nephrology@ippokratio.gr<\/b>. A letter stating that the manuscript has neither been published not is currently submitted for publication in any other journal, and that all authors agree with a possible publication of the manuscript in the &#8220;Hellenic Nephrology&#8221; should be faxed to <b>0030 2310 892382<\/b>. Figures are to be sent as separate attachments in .jpg, .gif or .tiff format. Resolution of digital pictures should be at least 1000 pixels at their large aspect, and scanned images should be of a 300 dpi resolution. Alternatively, manuscripts can be <b>addressed to the Editor-in-Chief, A. Papagianni, &Tau;el.: 0030 2310 992 856, University Department of Nephrology, Hippokratio General Hospital, 49 Konstantinoupoleos Str. 546 42 Thessaloniki, Greece, Secretary Tel.: 0030 2310 992 852 (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8.30 am-12.30 pm) and 0030 2310 274 424 (Tuesday, Friday 8.30 am-12.30 pm<\/b>). In this case, the above letter should accompany the manuscript. Figures and illustrations should be of excellent quality in the form of photographs or originals. The manuscript including tables and figures should be send in triplicate and be accompanied<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">by an electronic version on a digital storing medium (CD\/ DCD ROM). If any tables or figures have been published elsewhere, written consent to re-publication must be obtained by the author from the copyright holder and the original authors. Such permission must be sent to the Editor-in-Chief.<\/font>    <br \/>  <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">Submitted manuscripts adhering to the above instructions are subjected to peer review and forwarded by the Editorial Board to two of the journal\u2019s reviewers. The manuscript may be rejected, accepted without revisions or accepted with minor or major revisions according to the reviewers\u2019 comments. After acceptance proofs are sent to the corresponding author for final approval before publication. Only spelling corrections can be made at this point.
